YOUR ANIMAL CONNECTION

What’s It All About?

Animal communication is a skill that allows people to establish a deeper energetic connection with animals.

We talk in terms of a ‘conversation’ which can initially sound odd, as animals and humans clearly don’t share language. But we do share energy, which is how the communication takes place.

The conversation is therefore more of an energetic exchange, during which a skilled animal communicator can establish an animal’s thoughts and feelings.

Animal communicators also refer to ‘guardians’ (humans) and ‘companions’ (animals). An ethical animal communicator will always approach any exchange with the companion’s highest will and good as their priority.

It can take some time to establish trust with a companion – and sometimes they are not willing to communicate at all! But once trust is established, many guardians are reassured that they can act in accordance with their companion’s wishes.

There are many areas animal communicators can help a guardian and companion, such as illness and pain, situational issues like travelling or end of life care and Rainbow Bridge plans.

You will see from the many stories and testimonials presented on this website, that Camilla is a skilled communicator with a very special gift.

Should you want to get in touch with her to discuss your companion’s situation, please use the contact form below or email hello@youranimalconnection.com

What happens in a communication session?

Tuning In and Asking Permission

Camilla tunes in to the companion, usually through having a clear photograph to hand (electronic is fine).

She establishes a ‘heart-to-heart’ connection (which she describes as a golden beam of light from heart to heart) and checks that she has the companion’s permission to communicate.

Not all companions are willing to communicate – some are wary, some will ignore the request and others will be delighted to engage.

Each companion and exchange is different and Camilla is always sensitive to the companion’s wishes.

Meeting in The Safe Space

Next, Camilla invites the companion to meet with her in a safe space – she creates a mental image of a beach hut, which can be accessed via a beach one side or a forest on the other.

The companion is also given a choice about whether the guardian is invited into the space too for the length of the communication.

If the companion requests the guardian be there too, this can be like a comfort blanket for them.

It gives them reassurance that the process is safe and that they can trust Camilla.

Opening The Conversation

Through a series of questioning techniques, Camilla establishes and narrows the focus of the exchange.

Sometimes she will be able to use background that has been given to her by the guardian.

She uses imagery to explain the labels humans use for emotions, as many companions will not be aware of these.

After checking if the companion is in any physical pain and is happy, her job is to then be patient in receiving whatever the companion chooses to give her.

This could be words, imagery or a physcial feeling.

Questions

Exploring Any Issues

The next stage is crucial in the process as Camilla needs to sensitively ask questions of the companion to explore any issues that might be presenting as either unwanted or out-of-character behaviour.

It’s very important for her to be able to create trust with the companion, which sometimes means exploring things from different angles, or checking back with the guardian about recurring themes.

The process is always geared towards making sure the companion can fully open up in the exchange, so the guardian can ultimately act in the best interests of the companion.

Bubble of love

Protective Bubble of Love

When the companion has shared everything they want to, Camilla thanks them for the exchange and asks if they’d like to be placed into a protective bubble of love.

She estimates that about 70% of companions want to have this step.

She then relays their thoughts and concerns to the guardian. Sometimes these will make sense immediately and other times there may be more questions.

It’s not unusual for Camilla to request further sessions with a companion, so she can fully explore the issues presented.

Preparation and Change

At this time, the guardian can be reassured that they have the information their companion needs them to have.

This means they are equipped to make changes to help a companion feel more comfortable, or adjust their behaviour.

If the exchange concerned a Rainbow Bridge plan, they can make the necessary preprarations for the transition.

Often Camilla will have completed her part by now, but will occasionally tune in with companions again where appropriate to make sure everything is progressing positively for everyone concerned.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or ‘tapping’ is an effective tool for clearing negative emotions, limiting beliefs, fears, phobias and trauma.

It can help those who are dealing with anticipatory grief and also the trauma once our companions die.

Camilla uses EFT alongside her skills as a Vibrational and Flower Essences Practitioner, Animal Communicator and Reiki Practitioner and Pet Bereavement counsellor.

She uses surrogate tapping for the animal companion and/or on the animal companion if they give permission, as well as teaching the guardian how to practice EFT on themselves to help them deal with the loss or impending loss of their companion.

Success Stories

PIP

Pip

Pip’s guardian says:

Camilla literally saved my dog’s life!

Pip had been neglected and mistreated by his previous owner and had always had some behavioural issues. I inherited him under very stressful circumstances which were painful and difficult for both of us. His behaviour declined and he nipped two people, then one morning attacked me and I ended up in hospital.

My vet recommended having Pip put down and although I didn’t know what to do for him, I couldn’t have him destroyed as I loved him and was aware of his past and his changed circumstances.

A friend suggested I get in touch with Camilla and from the first time Camilla connected with Pip there was a change in him and after his new name was given to him [he was previously called something other than Pip], he totally transformed and has continued to evolve with every week that passes.

Camilla’s ongoing support has given me such security and confidence in bringing up Pip and all who know Pip says he is a completely different dog and now is happy, confident and content.

Camilla has changed and saved not only Pip’s life, but mine too and I can’t thank or recommend her enough.

SELENA

Pip

Camilla says:

I was put in touch with a stable owner in Ireland, who had a number of horses that I needed to communicate with. Selena was the first.

After I tuned in, she said she didn’t need to come to my safe space – she trusted me to listen to her and pass on her feelings.

I saw an image of horse box being driven away and not returning and got a really strong feeling of loss. Selena didn’t want to let go of the memory as she didn’t want to lose them forever.

I didn’t have any information from the guardian to begin with, so I was having to work really hard at narrowing down the area we were working on.

At that point I got more information about how Selena had gone lame after being made to jump out of her comfort zone. She was put out to rest with another horse called Tiger and it was this horse that had left in the horse box. I knew that Tiger was in a good place, so I had to help Selena understand and accept this.

We then moved on to talk about her recovery plan. She wasn’t keen at all on swimming! I knew that I needed the guardian to send me Selena’s step by step, specific and detailed instructions of her recovery plan – including how she would get to any therapy, what would happen when she was there and so on. This would help me prepare her for it.

Selena also told me at this time that she loved someone called Robyn, who I later found out was the guardian’s daughter.

Selena was very excited to get jumping again, this was a very clear message to me. She also wanted me to pass on a message about a small child with blonde hair who stuck her tongue out and used her heels too much when riding another pony! Her parting words were that this was a spoilt brat!

I chatted with Selena throughout my holiday in France, and one time I was sitting in a restaurant with my husband enjoying supper, when I felt a hoof in my shoulder. It was Selena, wanting me to know that she liked the energy of her new possible guardian, but didn’t like the energy of the lady’s daughter.

I explained that energies changed in different situations and that in her own home, the daughter’s energy might be different, but Selena could always let me know if she was really unhappy. I reassured her it was for a trial period only but I’m pleased to say that she has since told me she is incredibly happy.

TIMOTHY

Timothy

Timothy’s guardian says:

Timothy didn’t have a good start in life. He was never socialised as a kitten and absolutely hated being touched, or even looked at. He spent all day hiding and wouldn’t eat unless we left the room.

We tried everything, including putting him on anti-depressants which only made things worse. We just assumed that we would have a scared, anxious, depressed cat forever.

Then Camilla offered to speak to him. After some initial resistance, Timothy was willing to talk and things started to change.

One stand out moment was when she told us he liked ‘playing with his slide’. We soon realised that he was referring to a toy that only he played with and that we had put it in a place he couldn’t easily access. We moved the toy and he immediately started to play with it.

Camilla had several conversations with Timothy and then one day he allowed us to stroke him! Since then, he has been a happier, more lively cat who is willing to interact – he’s completely different from the cat we knew a year ago.

Camilla is patient, caring and wholly professional with obvious empathy and compassion for all animals. We can’t recommend her highly enough!

WILTSHIRE POLICE DOG

Camilla says:

This trainee police dog was doing so brilliantly in all his training, but when it came to his exam, he messed around.

When I asked if he was prepared to chat, he was like a stroppy teenager! “I suppose if I have to!”

To begin with, he said he wasn’t coming back on recall because of his ears. So we talked about things like hand signals and ear drops, but his recall still didn’t improve.

He said “well maybe it’s not my ears!” And it wasn’t until maybe a week later, through odd chats with him, that I actually got to the crux of the problem: he loved his training – too much.

I asked him if that’s why he wasn’t playing ball and working really hard for his exam. He thought that if he didn’t pass the exam, he could just keep training for the rest of his life!

I had to help him realise that if he didn’t pass, his future would be uncertain. It took three tries, but eventually we got him there and he passed with flying colours.

WINSTON

Camilla says:

Winston the dog was rushed to the vets after eating something that didn’t agree with him. The problem was that no-one knew what it was he had eaten, so they didn’t know the specific appropriate treatment for him.

I tuned in with Winston and asked him to remember where he was when he became ill, as he kept giving me the word ‘gel’ when I asked about the consistency.

I asked him to look down and we worked out that he had been at his dog sitter’s and hadn’t been taken for a walk.

Instead he’d been put out into the yard where he came across some cotton wool that had been used to remove gel nail polish. Winston decided this would be a good thing to eat, but quickly regretted it as he became very poorly!

I was able to relay this to the guardian and vet so that Winston could be properly medicated and make a full recovery.

Unfortunately Winston didn’t learn about eating things that weren’t his to eat, as he also had to go back to the vet after eating a whole pannetone at Christmas!

IGGY

Camilla says:

Iggy’s guardian sent me a text to say that a van had zoomed round the corner when they were out riding one day, half killed a pheasant and careered towards them.

Previously Iggy was a bomb-proof horse – nothing fazed him at all. This time though, he ended up in a ditch at the side of the road, while the van kept going. He was really shaken up.

As I lived nearby and it was at the weekend, I asked if she wanted me to go over immediately. We collected an apple for him and then we went to the stable.

I asked if I could come in to his stable, and he agreed, but I wasn’t allowed to touch him until he’d finished his tea, although I was allowed to talk.

He told me he was really angry – angry because his guardian had taken him back out on to the road too quickly, to try to get him over his fear.

I explained this to him as she had his best interests at heart. He needed to understand that if he wanted to go on his favourite walk to the woods, he had to go by road.

He agreed that it was better to be angry at the white van man, than his guardian. I made a little joke about humans getting back on the horse. He raised his eyebrows (it reminded me of a cartoon character)!

He then allowed me to stroke him as he’d finished his tea. He headed towards my bag, which had my flower essences in, which I had chosen according to what I thought he might need – fear, calming, anxiety etc.

I told him to get his nose out and got the essence he was looking at and I held it to him and he pushed it away. He went back to my bag again and the same thing happen for the next one – he nudged it away.

However the third time, he mouthed at the bottle and I asked Iggy if this was what he needed and he said yes.

He had chosen Rock Rose, which is for sheer panic, terror, rabbit in the headlights type emotion.

I then asked him where he would like the drops – on ears, on hoofs – all no, but then he mouthed at my hand, so I put them on my hand and I said is that what you need Iggy and he mouthed again as if to say thank you very much for listening to me.

I put some Rock Rose in his trough and gave some to his guardian, then continued to reassure him after I got home.

For three or four days, I kept tuning in – I requested the guardian take some of the Rock Rose too as she had been in the same situation of course.

Finally I asked Iggy to remember his emotions when he did like the road – back when he was bomb-proof – and since that time, he’s virtually back to normal.

DOTTIE

Camilla says:

Dottie’s guardian asked me to try to get Dottie to use her litter tray. With three cats in the house, two were downstairs (the boys) and she was upstairs.

When I first tuned in and asked if I could communicate with her, she was … well … let’s just say the language was colourful! I asked her to stop being rude and explained that I was there to help.

It turned out that she found using a litter tray upstairs a chore and showed her displeasure by relieving herself on the carpet next to the tray! I pictured an image of her climbing into the litter tray, relieving herself and I showed her the emotion of deep happiness and us all being proud of her. She listened and acknowledged this.

Over the course of the next few months she gradually improved in her use of the tray and now doesn’t go inside at all.

ALICE

Camilla says:

From a networking group I belong to, Alice’s guardian saw a post I’d written on Animal Communication and got in touch.

Alice is an adopted dog and was showing anxiety and aggressive tendencies towards members of her guardian’s family. Alice had always been anxious since coming to live with them, but after a while started being aggressive too. Her guardians were seriously considering taking her to a rescue home as her behaviour was getting worse and worse.

I asked Alice if I could talk with her and invited her to my special safe space. Between chats with Alice and her guardian, we established that her aggressive behaviour had begun just before her guardian found out she was pregnant.

It turned out that Alice felt she had to become the protector of the entire family, so when I reassured her that she didn’t need to have this role and in fact the family were there to protect her, she was totally relieved and her aggression cleared almost immediately (within a week) – so much so that she didn’t follow her family around the house – they found her in another room sleeping.

She had no toys, love or food before (hence her anxiety) but now understands that she is in her forever home.

ROBBIE

Camilla says:

Robbie the dressage horse was always very anxious about going into his trailer to get to events. When I spoke to him, he just didn’t want to get in. He showed me a memory of a foal he’d seen stumbling to get into a trailer and was worried that would happen to him. His guardian remembered this incident and validated what he was showing me.

I asked him to try to relax in the trailer, because he loved eventing and did well when he got there, but maybe he could do even better if he wasn’t so nervous beforehand. I told him “All you’ve got to do is put one hoof in front of the other, concentrate on slow breathing and just be in the now and know that you are perfectly safe.” He did it and then performed really well.

The second time we spoke he told me he didn’t like the loud noises when he got to the event, so I gave him some ‘magic earphones’ which meant he only heard his rider and any other useful information. His guardian reported back that he no longer flinched when being checked in before an event. He did brilliantly and both he and his rider had a good day.

A while later though, his guardian got in touch again to say that he’d had to be sedated at the side of the road. Robbie told me it was because of metal. This meant that I had to run through all the possibilities of what it could be. I ended up having to check with a friend who has horses, for the names of things. His guardian listened to this and a member of the team went into the trailer and removed some metal pieces that were dangling down and potentially frightening him. He’s been absolutely fine since then.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need to be in the same room as my animal?

Not at all. Camilla simply needs a good photograph of the animal (which can be electronic) to tune in and establish a connection.

How do you have a conversation when they don't speak?

Animals communicate through energy and imagery. A skilled animal communicator will be able to interpret these signals and decipher their meaning in a way that humans can understand more easily.

How do I know this is really what my animal wants?

You should be able to see changes in your animal’s demeanour and behaviour after a session – assuming you are able to make any changes they have requested.

What if my animal doesn't want to talk with Camilla?

It’s rare, but it happens! Camilla is very adept at gaining an animal’s trust, but sometimes they simply don’t wish to communicate. Camilla will always let you know if that’s the case.

What do you mean by 'the highest will and good' of the animal?

Any changes in behaviour requested by the guardian must be in the best interests of the companion, otherwise it won’t work.

What's a Rainbow Bridge plan?

Usually when a beloved companion is near the end of their life with us, they will be quite reconciled with this and may have some wishes for where they want to be and what should be with them as they pass away.

Camilla is able to have the conversation with a companion about their plan to pass over the ‘Rainbow Bridge’ – a term used to describe their journey from their life with us to whatever’s next.

This conversation can be most reassuring for guardians who want their companion to be as comfortable and peaceful as possible in this transition.

How do I book a session?

Use the contact form below and Camilla will get in touch with a background and consent form.

How much is it?

The current price is from £50 per session. Camilla will advise you how and when to pay for your session(s) once she has agreed to try communicating with your animal.

If any flower essences are needed, these will be charged separately (you will be asked before they are added on!).
